Tokaji - A Wine Legend for Your Products
The Tokaji wine region in northeastern Hungary is characterized by a unique terroir and microclimate, ideal for producing noble sweet wines. The volcanic soils give the wines a special minerality and complexity, while the specific microclimate with autumn fog promotes the development of noble rot (Botrytis cinerea).
The humidity from the surrounding Bodrog and Tisza rivers contributes to the optimal conditions. The main grape varieties Furmint, Hárslevelű (Linden Leaf), and Yellow Muscat play a crucial role in the characteristic taste of Tokaji wines. Furmint provides character, minerality, and subtle acidity, Hárslevelű contributes the intoxicating aroma, and Yellow Muscat adds floral and fruity notes.
The production process is elaborate and steeped in tradition. The grapes are hand-picked in several passes until November, carefully separating botrytized and healthy grapes. The use of "Puttonyos" (buckets) to determine the level of sweetness and the long aging in tuff stone cellars with a special microclimate contribute to the uniqueness and quality of Tokaji wines.
The barrels are typically equipped with a used wooden or plastic bung. If you wish to have a new silicone bung, you can order it under accessories (Type Standard – C16).
Pre-used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood, external stress cracks, or potentially an uneven bottom are not quality defects, but rather determined by the nature of the construction and the previous use of the barrels. The functionality of the barrel is not impaired by this. We carefully check the barrels for sensory and technical defects during our outgoing inspection. We do not assume liability for cracks or fissures that occur during aging. A possible and sensible repair is not a warranty service. All images are examples, and optical deviations are possible.
